Ben came down to visit Saturday and ended up helping Dave take down the "morning glory." I don't think it's a morning glory although everyone else seems to. It had a two inch diameter base vine. I think it was a dutchman's pipe.
While I was watching the guys take it down, two women from the neighborhood stopped to talk. I think they were half pleased to have a family in the house again and half dismayed at the disappearance of a 30 year old vine. It was climbing INTO the porch roof, it totally blocked the light coming into that front window, it blocked the view of the street from that side of the porch, and it was causing problems getting out of the driveway.
Next year will we will have a chainsaw massacre in the front yard. All of the bushes and trees have to go. They are so overgrown that cutting them back far enough is almost the same as removing them all.
Let's see, other things done this weekend included:
assembling the last computer desk and computer
one small load retrieved from storage
shelving rearranged
using the oven for the first time for pizza and cake
