And I thought it had been longer than that. We've been here only a little over a month.
Here's a new batch of pictures from today:

Thinking Ahead
Dave made another trip to storage and brought home a lot of my crafting supplies. Last night I started unpacking and arranging the craft side of the craft/play room. Now I'm itching to get started on holiday presents. I have a couple of special requests and a few more specific ideas but I want to go through my books for more ideas.
I have my list from last year so nobody will get repeats unless requested.

Lesson about Walls
I learned something about walls this week. Lathe and plaster is WAY harder than drywall. I bent four nails trying to hang the Duckie's chore chart. I also had a bit of a frustrating time hanging the sun, moon, and stars art in the kitchen. That must by why I've had trouble drilling holes in the walls. The guys at work recommend getting special masonry bits for the drill.

Lefties Unite!
I've talked about the kitchen a little bit before but, honestly, it's going to have to be redone. The appliances are awesome but the layout is awful.
I got to thinking last night that it would be wonderful to have the kitchen redesigned for me; specifically, a lefthanded kitchen.
I'm an odd sort of ambidextrous. I write with my right hand, do alot of fiber arts with both hands, and everything else trends to the left. My cooking is no exception... I use a knife right handed, stir right handed 75% of the time, but the rest is left. I reach for things with my left hand so I arrange the cabinets in order of nearness to the left.
It would be cool to have a kitchen designed for the way I work instead of the way everyone else does.

As far as utensils go, I have two left handed liquid measuring cups, two ambi can openers, and an ambi peeler.

Lost and Found
We had originally expected to move in early August and have everything out of storage before cold weather arrived. Yeah, no. We've been limping along this week with light jackets but it finally got to be too much for Dave. He dug through storage and found the bin with most of the winter coats.
I also found the key to the good bicycle lock. I haven't needed it in nine years but we'll have the bikes back soon.

Announcing Our Presence
And traumatizing the neighborhood.
Ben came down to visit Saturday and ended up helping Dave take down the "morning glory." I don't think it's a morning glory although everyone else seems to. It had a two inch diameter base vine. I think it was a dutchman's pipe.
While I was watching the guys take it down, two women from the neighborhood stopped to talk. I think they were half pleased to have a family in the house again and half dismayed at the disappearance of a 30 year old vine. It was climbing INTO the porch roof, it totally blocked the light coming into that front window, it blocked the view of the street from that side of the porch, and it was causing problems getting out of the driveway.
Next year will we will have a chainsaw massacre in the front yard. All of the bushes and trees have to go. They are so overgrown that cutting them back far enough is almost the same as removing them all.
Let's see, other things done this weekend included:
assembling the last computer desk and computer
one small load retrieved from storage
shelving rearranged
using the oven for the first time for pizza and cake

It's the little things
I've been ill this week so I've been working on the little things.
I repotted the large peace lily and put it in a corner on the landing.
This morning I put up the key hooks on the side of the cabinet near the back door.
My cookbooks are now on the shelves just outside of the kitchen.
The Husband went through the kitchen cleaning supply boxes and organized under the sink.
And here's the to-do list for this weekend:
Assemble computer desk.
Rearrange corner of living room where desk is going.
Put together my computer.
Assemble the Grand Duchess' floor lamp.
Drop off stuff for my brother.
Make a Salvation Army donation run.
Figure out how to get tubs into the attic.
Figure out trash/recycling placements.
Start getting boxes from storage.

Week 2
It's been a week of injury, illness, migraines, allergies, and a bit of a mental breakdown. A little bit got done around the house but the big accomplishment was getting all of the way out of the apartment. A big thank you to my Mother-in-Law and my Stepmother for helping with the last two days of that.
Things done this week:
New hanger rod in the master bedroom closet
Unpacked four garbage bags of clothes
Set up shelves in the craft and playroom
Hung curtains in the living room
Week 2 Photos
Not much in this set. I did take some pictures of the attic and the basement. The attic has lights and an outlet. The basement managed to stay dry during the flooding last week.
